.at/on – ANTI RAVE

ANTI RAVE was crafted entirely using the noise box/drum machine known as the “anti rave”. Despite its provocative title, the EP has no connection to any anti-rave movement or ideology.

Instead, it explores the challenge of using a single device as the sole source of all sonic material — from a single drum hit to expansive atmospheric pads and piercing noise.

Every sound on the EP originates from the “anti rave”, and then meticulously cut into samples, resampled, and further processed using MetaSynth, CDP, and various plugins.

While the routing of wires and connections constantly evolved, and external CV or audio effects were occasionally applied, the guiding principle remained: all sound derives from the device itself.

The EP fuses the raw sound of 4000-series CMOS chips with intensive sample manipulation.

The original recording sessions took place between February and March 2025.

The post-processing and arrangement were done between March and September 2025.
