Jonathan Deasy – SeaSine

SeaSine is a longform single piece for sine tones and is a study of the interaction between slight shifts in frequency and modulation and the phase patterns created with them.

Jonathan Deasy is a composer and improviser based in Ireland.

His work, characterised by the rich, immersive environments that he consistently invokes, could be described as patient, dynamic, hypnotic or overwhelming, depending on the medium, and sometimes, all in the same set.

A lifelong fascination with microtonal intervals, overtones, distortion and saturation rubs up against deep study in classical composition and jazz, and this pervades much of the work, be it the amplifier punishing Sunn O))) adjacent guitar sets or his meticulously crafted minimal electronic work with Max MSP and Supercollider.

Jonathan Deasy is also a member of the Other Light Ensemble, an experimental group founded by acclaimed Derbyshire musicians Jonathan Hill and Ryan James Mawbey.
