Sowl – Ensemble Vide

With “Ensemble Vide,” Sowl unfolds a gentle stream of sound and feeling, opening a doorway into realms of melancholy and in-betweenness. The duo, Olivier Verleye (guitar, bulbul tarang) and Valentin Brügger (soma pipe, micro Korg, DeepMind6, vocals), merge fragile and tangible sounds, stoic guitar lines, and shimmering, echoing voices into a sonic entity that glides through space with both delicacy and gravity.

The new album emerges from a period of quiet, thoughtful improvisation that followed an intense phase of live projects. Across its four tracks, Ensemble Vide tells of palpable emptiness, aching memories, traces that dissolve, and voices flickering anonymously in the crowd; yet, it also explores the silence that spreads like wildfire, the fragility of human connection, and the quiet hope for lasting belonging. This is an invitation to drift on a current of empathy, melancholy, and hope—a suspended state between descent and ascent.
