Conure – Renewals

Mark Wilson (also of 15 Degrees Below Zero and It’s Been Said) has been creating ambient noise and other varieties of sound art under the moniker Conure since May of 2000. He currently utilizes various microphones, effects pedals, loops, field recordings, and mixer as his main set of tools to create sounds that range from minimal drones to heavily layered walls of feedback and cacophony.

Conure’s new release, Renewals, transports listeners into an intense sonic universe situated between field recordings, droning atmospheres, and eruptive bursts of noise. Each of the six tracks tells its story and unveils a distinct imaginary world. Through organic soundscapes, hypnotic textures, and raw sonic energy, Renewals creates an immersive journey traversing experimentation, emotion, and acoustic storytelling.

The material on this album has no relation to my previous track “Renewal” (which appeared on the America, the Grave various artists compilation on Annihilvs Power Electronics) or its full length version “Full Renewal” (which appeared on the Conure Interpretations cassette on Silken Tofu Org). They share titles, but the underlying themes are very different.

Thank you to Ro for the interest he has shown in my work the past few years and for releasing this material. Also, thanks to all of the show organizers that have taken a chance on me.

Special thanks go to Mel for inspiring me to finally complete this album, for being one of the inspirations for the album’s theme of renewals, for providing the beautiful photo, and for everything else. Te amo..
